I’m Michael Wright. I’m the environmental reporter at the Bozeman Daily Chronicle.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Wendell, Idaho, a small town 100 miles south of Boise. I studied journalism at the University of Montana, graduating in 2015.
In college, I produced for the college radio station and wrote for the school paper. In 2014 I interned at the Big Timber Pioneer, a weekly newspaper in Big Timber, Montana. I wrote and shot photos for the paper.
I covered the 2015 Montana Legislature for a number of newspapers across Montana and started working at the Chronicle a few days before I graduated college.
I like good narrative journalism, insightful political reporting, vivid language and the Chicago Cubs. Also, fly-fishing, bow ties and sunflower seeds. I distrust adverbs, semicolons, fans of the Houston Astros and bait fishermen.
You can find some of my work here, on www.bozemandailychronicle.com, on www.kbga.org/wordofmouth and www.montanakaimin.com I have also written for modernfarmer.com, The Drake magazine, and The Fly Fish Journal.
